We focus on highlighting the excellence and importance of the world’s writing systems by preserving, studying, and exhibiting related materials from around the world and always welcome donations. Donated materials and artifacts are safely preserved in our advanced storage facility and showcased to the public through exhibitions and educational programs. Through donation, valuable materials and artifacts can be protected from theft, loss, and damage that may be more easily incurred while being kept as a private collection. Donors can also contribute to promoting the value of the material by allowing the public to explore it. We remain dedicated to upholding the good will of donors and building strong bonds with them.
If the source of the material is unreliable or the ownership of the material is controversial
If the material is suspected to be related to theft, smuggling, or other illegal activities
If the material is deemed unsuitable for our research, exhibitions, and educational programs
If the material is excessively damaged
Once a donation is decided, a certificate of donation is issued and souvenirs are offered to the donor.
